Do you guys remember when I posted this?
Well yesterday I returned to St Barts to find this brick had been scrubbed clean, leaving only a few faint marks on the brickwork. But in it’s place, something else has sprung up. Something which I feel is much nicer and less destructive than graffiting this wonderful, historical and iconic building. The photoset above shows a ventilation grille, the gaps in which people have placed rolled up scraps of paper with letters, tumblr urls, drawings and some of them simply marked with ‘we believe in Sherlock Holmes’. Although the movement has somewhat faded, it’s still nice to see some people keep it alive, myself included. We too left our little scrap of paper to mark us being there. I probably won’t be back in London for some time now due to family and health issues, but it would be interesting to see how this one develops, as it looked to me like the writing on the wall had expanded a little before being scrubbed off.
